One month after the conclusion of the European Forum Alpbach, the Club Senza Confini met again in Klagenfurt for its annual General Assembly.

On Saturday, we held our session at the Alpen Adria University of Klagenfurt. Lukas Strießnig from the Land Carinthia honored us with his presence and met our scholarship holders.

The GA was an occasion to take stock of the past year, which has not been an easy one. Yet, despite the adversities, our team has delivered a fully-fledged scholarship program and organized several events. With a renewed team, we set new goals for the year ahead.

Of course, it would not have been a perfect Senza Confini gathering without a proper hike! On Sunday, we reached the top of Magdalensberg, from which we could enjoy a beautiful view of the Karavanke mountains – hopefully not a dividing barrier, but a node point for ideas and exchange.

During the Technology Symposium at the European Forum Alpbach, Club Alpbach Senza Confini and the KWF co-organised the “Green Entrepreneurship” Breakfast. On the morning of 27th August, our scholarship holders walked up to the Schafalm to meet with representatives from the business sector, funding bodies, and multistakeholder organizations.

The cosy alpine hut was the perfect setting for our 24 participants to engage in a lively chat about Green Entrepreneurship. Three speakers – Michael Nöst (CEO of A3PS), Michael Stibi (CEO and Founder of Purency), and Julian Jank (CEO and Founder of Aeroficial Intelligence GmbH) – introduced the topic and highlighted the numerous opportunities that the sustainable transformation can bring for young entrepreneurs and for new business ideas.

In the words of Jürgen Kopeinig, Head of Strategic Economic Development at KWF, “green entrepreneurship aims to develop and launch innovations that open up great future economic opportunities and make significant contributions to green and digital transformation, also in terms of the European Union’s Green Deal. Green technologies, business models, products and services lead to the founding of new companies and provide impulses in the value chains of existing companies.”

The Chat was followed by a delicious breakfast: our guests could leave with both stomachs and minds well filled! Many thanks to Ms. Duftner for organising the regional, slow food Breakfast which fitted perfectly into the frame of our debate.

We would like to warmly thank KWF for their sponsorship and support in organising this event!
Thank you also to all the participants to our discussion and breakfast!

On 25th August, Club Alpbach Senza Confini organised a fireside chat with Marie Ringler, member of the Global Leadership Group of Ashoka, which is the biggest network for Social Entrepreneurs worldwide. Since November 2020, she is also Vice-President and Board Member of the European Forum Alpbach.

In 2011, Marie founded Ashoka’s Austrian office and soon took over Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe. In 2018 she was appointed European Leader of Ashoka. Before her work with Ashoka, she had over ten years of experience working for Die Grünen (the Austrian Green Party) in Vienna.

In the Fireside Chat we talked about her life path, her work and role at Ashoka, and her experience in politics. A central theme of the chat was social entrepreneurship, especially how it works, how it can be measured, and how it can be financed and supported. Lastly, but not in order of importance, we also talked about her vision for and contribution to the present and future of the European Forum Alpbach.

Thank you very much Marie for our chat! We loved getting into a deep conversation with you in the beautiful Alpine setting of Alpbach!
